Stephen Hughes and wife Marie have run the company for over 25 years, following in the footsteps of Stephen’s father and grandfather. As the third generation to be involved with oriental carpets, today they draw on more than 75 years of accumulated knowledge and experience.
Hughes Rugs import directly from the foremost carpet-producing countries, including Persian, Turkey, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan and China. Our ethically-sourced items are hand-made by skilled weavers living in nomadic, tribal or village communities. We’re proud to run a business that supports local economies in these countries, and which promotes traditional skills that have often been in families for generations.
